Why does your body need sleep?     The higher parts of the nervous system are responsible for the physiology of sleep. The nerve cells of the cerebral cortex are able to respond to the slightest stimuli coming from the external environment and forming inside a person. They are constantly on guard, sending signals to human organs, muscles. Such reactivity leads to gradual fatigue, inhibition of their activity.
